I own Leelanau Veterinary Care, in the heart of Leelanau County, next to the Government Center. Ten years ago I had to unplug my desktop computer and drive it 3 miles to my home to download my payroll tax tables and update any software needed. After exploring DSL, Cable and a tower, I found my only option was to use an AT&T hotspot, and while this did help, it was incredibly slow. Last August, Point Broadband walked in our front door and offered to get us hooked up to the 21st century. It was tricky and they had to send 2 supervisors out to drop the line within a 1.5 foot window. PBB was professional, timely and very easy to work with. This service has changed my business and has saved me money. Our email is faster, we have been able to take advantage of better software, can do online banking among other things. As a county, we need to attract small businesses along with young families. This is only possible with a broadband infrastructure that supports the Internet and many essential services.
