Derby event to benefit LCN

Leelanau Christian Neighbors (LCN) will host an impactful fundraising event, “Run for the Roses” Derby Party on Thursday, May 1 at the Mountain Flower Lodge at The Homestead Resort in Glen Arbor.

Guests will experience the excitement of the Kentucky Derby with a unique twist, all while supporting LCN’s programs. The evening will feature delicious refreshments, lively music, and the thrill of the “greatest two minutes in sports.”

Derby attire is encouraged, so don your finest hats and bow ties. Adding a playful and engaging element to the event, LCN will host a fun-filled hobby horse race with a competitive edge. Each hobby horse will present a different LCN program. Racers will only advance when donations are made to their respective programs. The more donations a program receives, the faster its racer will move, creating a dynamic and interactive fundraising experience. While only one racer will cross the finish line first, all donations will directly support LCN’s mission to assist Leelanau residents in need.

“We are thrilled to host this unique and exciting event,” said Mary Stanton, executive director of LCN. The ‘Run for the Roses’ Derby Party offers a wonderful opportunity for our community to come together, have fun, and make a real difference in the lives of our neighbors. We are especially excited about the hobby horse and the friendly completion it will bring, all for a great cause.”

Tickets for the event are $75 per person and can be purchased online at leelanauchristianneighbors. org/celebrate-run-for-theroses- a-derby-party
