Superintendent interviews ongoing at Leland

Leland Public School Board of Education was scheduled to wrap up interviews last night for superintendent candidates.

Current superintendent, Stephanie Long, announced her retirement in February, effective the end of the 2024-25 school year.

Six candidates were interviewed — four Tuesday and two more last night.

The first day, the board interviewed:

• Hugh Potter, Ph.D — current program officer in the United States Department of Education.

• David Harwood, Ph.D. — current superintendent/principal at Vanderbilt Area Schools.

• Lisa Migazzi — current first/second grade teacher at Leland Public School.

• Jeremy Peplinski — current assistant principal at Leland Public School.

Last night, the board was scheduled to interview Ryan Huppert, Doctor of Education Leadership candidate, resident to the superintendent at Revere Public School District and former principal at City High Middle School. And Sean Wightman, current middle school principal at Dowagiac Union Schools.
