The 11th Annual Glen Lake Restaurant week, set for April 25-May 3 this year, is fast approaching, and will offer an array of dining experiences for those looking for tasty meals around the Glen Arbor area.

Whether it’s casual bites or gourmet dining, there will be options on the menu during restaurant week for just about everyone. Participating businesses will feature specials or a prix-fixe menu that highlight the best of the local culinary scene. Some participating businesses may also offer breakfast and lunch specials in addition to dinner.

The businesses in line so far to participate in restaurant week this year are: La Becasse, Good Harbor Grill, The Mill Glen Arbor, Boonedocks, Western Avenue Grill, Blu, and Trattoria Funistrada.

While many of the listed eateries are still working to finalize their restaurant week menus and will release more information as the event nears, some already have an idea of what specials they’ll have available.

A historic landmark and charming place to visit while in town, The Mill Glen Arbor plans to offer a special lunch menu during restaurant week at its cafe, which is open daily. Guests that stop by can pick up a soup or salad, along with a sandwich and dessert for $22. Also featured are new items such as a philly roast pork bun and a pistachio sorbet affogato, and there will be vegan and vegetarian options available.

A 10 minute drive from downtown Glen Arbor to Burdickville will lead you to Trattoria Funistrada, an Italian restaurant housed in the former Glen Lake Inn building. Funistrada’s restaurant week menu is priced at $47 per person and will include a selection of three courses. Some sample items include a mushroom pate’, pork with gorgonzola and pear mostarda, burrata ravioli with tomato, basil, and bacon. Beet salad with maple dijon dressing will also be an option, as well as pineapple and apricot upside down cake for dessert.

Funistrada co-owner Susan Garver and her husband, Mike, operate the business, and said being part of restaurant week allows her talented culinary team (Jake, Jon, Travis, and Ivy) to represent the best aspects of dining there by using local flavors, new food trends, or inspirational ideas.

“Being able to share a creative idea through food is a personally rewarding experience. Food nourishes the body as much as the soul,” Garver said. “Sharing this with the community you live in builds a lasting relationship. People want to feel a connection and we do this through our food and inviting service. Happy places make happy faces… Funistrada is now 25 years-old. Most of our team has been here for over 15 years. It’s a testament to the family we have built, the community’s reaction to that dedication, and the success when you combine everything all together.”
