To the editor:
Issues are local when:
• Cuts at National Parks impact local businesses which rely on attendance at Sleeping Bear;
• VA cuts impact services our local vets rely on;
• Your neighbor, through administrative error, and without due process, is sent to a Central American gulag because your government acted with malevolence;
• Layoffs at the Food and Drug Administration increase your costs as wait time for cheaper generic drugs is extended;
• Your freedom of speech and that of your local news outlet is stifled because the government does not like what you or they say;
• Cuts in weather services impact the access of forecasts for local farmers;
• The economy is in free fall, through uninformed and capacious acts by the President, sending Leelanau families reeling, upping the cost of living and depleting savings;
• Cuts in education negatively impact county students’ learning; • Cuts in science impact the treatments and vaccines available to you and me;
• Tariffs on a host of countries and goods hit our county’s farmers and seniors hard, resulting in a receding economy where your son or daughter is laid off or cannot find that first employment.
Protect Freedom of Speech and ensure the Just Rule of Law.
