Glen Lake girls soccer defeated Buckley 2-1 to start the season at home.
The Lakers held on to the hard-fought win with only nine players.
Buckley took the lead in the first half before Glen Lake scored on a long through pass from senior Hailey Anderson to captain Abigail Steffke, cut inside for a right-footed shot for a goal with 11 minutes till halftime.
In the first minute of the second half, a free kick from the right side for the Lakers, taken by Steffke, finds senior captain Maggie Diotte with a left foot touch on the edge of the goal box to take over the lead.
The Lakers fell to Traverse City St. Francis 9-1 Monday.
Glen Lake will look to rebound next week against Traverse City Central and Manistee before returning home at the end of the month to face Leland.
