With favorable weather ahead, the Lakers hope to further enhance their performance, especially on the pitching mound, as they prepare for upcoming challenges.
Glen Lake baseball (5-1) has had a sizzling start to the season.
“We got to the gate pretty well, hitting and driving the ball. Our pitching has been good. We need to throw a few more strings than we’ve been throwing but overall we’ve been getting some decent pitching performances. We’re playing just good enough defense right now,” coach Kris Herman said.
Glen Lake won its first game of the season against Lake Leelanau St. Mary 13-1 last week.
The Lakers were led by senior Isaac Hlavka with nine strikeouts in four innings while allowing one hit in game one. Tanner Crick won the second game with no hits and two strikeouts during a 17-2 win over the Eagles.

The Lakers played Marion Friday and then on Saturday at Central Michigan University against Mt. Pleasant Sacred Heart and Rudyard in a tough early tournament.
The Lakers defeated Marion 7-0, 13-5 Friday.

Allen’s line was 2 IP, 0 R, 0 H, 5 K 0 BB.
Peter Gelsinger, 4 hits, 4 RBI), Tristin Boze (4 hits, 3 RBI), Isaac Hlavka (3 hits, 4 RBI), Fletcher Middleton (2 hits, RBI), Tanner Crick (2 RBI) led the Lakers.
Glen Lake is now 5-1 and played Suttons Bay yesterday as of press time.
The Lakers team batting average is around .458 “As the weather gets warmer here we need to increase our percentage a little bit where we’re accustomed to being in around 65% as a team and we’re below that right now we’re having around 60 some of that has just been because of cold weather, it’s been hard to grip the ball to make the ball move as the weather warms up. We’re definitely gonna need to throw more strikes,” Herman said.

Lake Leelanau St. Mary (1-3) split a pair with Frankfort 11-4, 0-4.
Josh Bunek earned the win in five innings, throwing eight strikes and allowing four hits.
