Board OKs equipment purchases

Just over $91,000 in purchases were approved last week by the county Board of Commissioners.

In separate motions, commissioners approved the payments at their regular meeting, April 15.

The board approved the purchase of a new mower from Ginop Sales for $33,900. Also approved for Parks and Recreation Department was the purchase of a new Kubota mower from Ginop to replace a mower damaged last summer. Cost of the mower, $23,966, will be covered with a $16,084 insurance claim and $4,600 coming from unspent capital outlay; a $2,000 salvage credit from Ginop and $1,281 paid out of Parks & Recreation.

Also OK’d were improvements to the framework and repairs of the dam control roof, $7,712 and $3,000 for Machin Engineering for the dam pedestrian walk in Leland.

In other business, commissioners approved the purchase and installation of lactation room for the county building.

Panel Built, Inc. is the primary vendor for the prefabricated structure, supplemented with cost-effective furnishings and equipment with work not-toexceed $12,000.

The room will be placed in the lower level of the county building. Installation will be required by Aug. 1 for the county to comply with the Affordable Care Act.
