17th annual M22 Challenge sold out

The iconic M22 Challenge, which takes place June 14, is officially sold out over two months before the event is expose to take place.

This local challenge has been one of the best endurance events in northern Michigan since its inception with 900 participants.

The run, bike, paddle event takes place in the heart of the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore making for a beautiful backdrop while racing.

The M22 Challenge attracts competitive athletes from all over the country. For some, it’s just about having fun and enjoying the event in such a beautiful location. Athletes take off from the start line on M-109 in Glen Arbor in the heart of the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Park, with the infamous “Dune Climb” on the Sleeping Bear Dunes, kicking off the start to the 22 mile race. From there, athletes jump on their bikes for a 17 mile race up Inspiration Point and around Big and Little Glen Lake, and finish with a 2.5 mile paddle on kayaks or on stand up paddle boards in Little Glen Lake before crossing the finish line. Event staging and equipment drop-off takes place on Friday, June 13th, from 3-8 p.m. and 6-7 a.m. on Saturday, June 14, at the event site. Run staging opens at 7:50 am.

In celebration of your accomplishment, our presenting sponsor River Club Glen Arbor is hosting a post party for all race participants.

Athletes will receive a complimentary meal ticket and a $1 craft beer or free non-alcoholic beverage ticket. Join fellow racers and rest your weary bones to some live music along the Crystal River. Grab your friends and family for this post race celebration from 11 a.m.-7 p.m., June 14th. Free parking included.
