‘Truffles and Trilliums’

The Botanic Garden at Historic Barns Park is teaming up with Grocer’s Daughter Chocolate to present Truffles and Trilliums, a spring event that’s equal parts indulgence and inspiration.

Set for Tuesday, May 14 from 4 to 7:15 p.m., this immersive class will treat participants to an evening of chocolate-making and a guided wildflower hike through one of the region’s most beautiful spring trails.

The event begins at Grocer’s Daughter Chocolate in Empire, where participants will enjoy a curated chocolate tasting and hands-on truffle-making experience using fresh herbs straight from the garden. After 90 minutes of sweet exploration, the group will head out for a golden- hour hike along the Kettles Trail in Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore, led by Matthew Ross, executive director of The Botanic Garden. Known for its stunning spring ephemerals and carpets of blooming trillium, the trail offers a breathtaking backdrop for this unique seasonal adventure.

“This event brings together two of northern Michigan’s great pleasures — artisanal chocolate and the beauty of spring wildflowers,” Ross said. “It’s a wonderful way to celebrate the season and connect with nature in a unique, handson way.”

Class size is limited to 16 participants. Registration is $39 for members of The Botanic Garden and $49 for non-members. For more information and to register, visit thebotanicgarden. org.
