Access MI Solar informational programs

Leelanau Energy has announced a new partnership with the Groundwork Center for Resilient Communities to extend and strength their Access MI Solar program in Leelanau County.

Access MI Solar is a group-buy discount program that helps homeowners and small businesses afford solar panels, to save on energy costs, and reduce their carbon footprint.

With 10 or more participants, each will enjoy a 10% discount (in addition to the existing 30% federal tax credit) on their solar installation.

For 2025 CBS Solar (www.sbssolar. com) has been selected by a committee of citizen-screeners as the solar contractor for this program.

Leelanau Energy will be offering two community engagement programs to discuss and take questions about Access MI Solar in Leelanau.

The first is Thursday, May 8 at the Suttons Bay-Bingham District Library. The second is a week later, May 15 at the Glen Lake Community Library.

Both meetings start at 7 p.m. There is a May 31 deadline for signing up to the program. However, it is important to emphasize that those who sign up are under no obligation to proceed to completion.

The sign up simply links the applicant with CBS Solar who will send a representative to assess their site and energy needs. CBS will then provide a free quote for the system design, including all equippment, installation and permitting costs. With a firm quote in hand, each household or business is free to move ahead, or not.
