Northern Michigan’s most famous clothing brand —- M22 LLC — is opening another location.
This time from the shores of Suttons Bay.
“We are happy to be here,” M22 Operations Manager Jeremy Evans said.
As the iconic clothing brand celebrates its 22nd anniversary in 2026, it is fitting to add another store on Michigan’s most famous road. The store opened last Thursday, April 24 and is open three days a week until Memorial Day before opening fulltime.
“The fresh coast of M22 … We were fortunate. We’ve had our eyes on Suttons Bay. We are stoked to be a part of the community,” Evans said. “Growth is always good and Leelanau county is a gorgeous paradise … The culture and everything and it’s so nice to expand on that and grow more roots in that area,” Evans said.
Patrons can expect a fresh and exclusive aesthetic, different from the Traverse City and Glen Arbor locations.
The Suttons Bay location is the second location in the county to go along with M22 Glen Arbor that is in partnership with Crystal River Outfitters.
The project took about three months to renovate, according to Evans.
M22 will try its best to represent Leelanau’s only year-round village in the county.
In terms of economic outlook, Evans reports that M22 sources the best they can and the relationship is strong with current partners domestically.
M22 is currently hiring and is operating Thursday through Sunday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. come Memorial Day, seven days a week.
M22 recently dropped its “freshwater fish” clothing line that has hints of mermaids and a new font.
In 2017, M22 LLC defeated the State of Michigan after a federal judge rejected a trademark argument.
M22 was founded in 2004 by local kiteboarding brothers, Matt and Keegan Myers, in search of epic wind and waves. They grew up in Neahtawanta and on the Old Mission Peninsula.
The experienced kite surfers would glide with wind miles off of shore, shredding Lake Michigan and connecting with nature.
The Laughing Fish Galley has moved to Ludington (222 W. Ludington Ave.) The motherdaughter artist team announced the move back in October 2024.
“Thanks for all of your support while we’ve been figuring things out (we do a little happy dance every time we see an online order, it seriously means so much to us!!) and we’re so excited, to see where this next adventure takes us,” Laughing Fish said in a Facebook post.
