Lakeview Hill Farm & Market, a certified organic farm located just outside Traverse City, is expanding its public offerings this May to bring visitors closer to the land, the food, and the farming practices that define Leelanau County.
Beginning this spring, the farm will offer guided tours, walkable flower fields, and new prepared food options at its year-round market. Situated along South Lake Leelanau Drive and next to the TART Trail, Lakeview Hill’s converted one-room schoolhouse farm market has served as a convenient stop for cyclists, commuters, and locals seeking fresh, organic produce since it opened in 2023. Now, owners John Dindia and Bailey Samp are inviting shoppers to linger a little longer—and experience a deeper connection to their food.
“We’ve always believed that food tastes better when you know the story behind it — where it comes from and the hands that grew it,” said Bailey Samp, Owner. “These new offerings give people a chance to walk the fields, see how things grow, and feel more connected to the land that feeds them.”
Farm tours, led by Dindia and Samp, will offer a behind-thescenes look at Lakeview Hill Farm’s 58 acres of sustainably managed land. Stops include the greenhouse and hoophouse production areas, as well as the farm’s vegetable beds and vibrant cut flower fields. In addition to showcasing the beauty of a working farm in full summer, tours will highlight the farm’s sustainability practices, including pollinator habitats, organic pest management and innovative technologies designed to maximize efficiency and minimize environmental impact. Each tour concludes at the on-site market, where visitors can browse seasonal produce and enjoy a variety of prepared foods made with ingredients grown on the farm.
In addition to the guided experiences, Lakeview Hill Farm has opened its blooming flower fields to the public for self-guided walks throughout the growing season. Outdoor seating will be added near the market in May, offering guests a place to relax and enjoy prepared items such as sandwiches, soups, salads and cold-pressed juices. The rotating menu highlights seasonal ingredients grown on the farm or sourced from local partners.
The season also brings back the farm’s annual organic plant sale, running May 9–31. Shoppers will find more than 150 certified organic produce starts, cut flowers, native plants from Birdsfoot Nursery, compost and garden tools. Flower lovers can also sign up for Lakeview Hill’s popular flower subscription program, which begins June 20. Six- and 12-week shares of farm-grown bouquets are now available for purchase on the farm’s website.
