The Bay Community Theatre in Suttons Bay will host two live performances this weekend.
Saturday, blues guitarist Harry Manx will take the stage as part of the Live at the Bay series.
Manx has been dubbed an “essential link” between the music of East and West, creating musical short stories that wed the tradition of the blues with the depth of classical Indian ragas.
His time spent living in Europe, Japan, India and Brazil — and five-year tutelage with Grammy-winning Rajasthani Indian musician Vishwa Mohan Bhatt — was a catalyst for Manx to forge a new path with his now signature east-meetswest style of music.
Manx has received seven Maple Blues Awards and honors from the Canadian Folk Music Awards, Vancouver magazine Georgia Straight, and the South Australia Blues Society.
Tickets for the 7 p.m. concert are $25 in advance/$30 at the door.
Sunday at 4 p.m. Interlochen in Town will present a Chamber Music Showcase.
Brass, string and woodwind ensembles from Interlochen Arts Academy will present a program bridging centuries of musical expression.
Tickets are $15 and are now on sale at TheBayTheatre.com. Doors open at 3 p.m.
