A feature on local fire departments training in Sleeping Bear Dunes appeared in the April 25 issue of Fire Engineering Magazine.
On a day in October, Glen Lake firefighters met with Cedar Area Fire & Rescue for training on one of the steepest points on the dunes and simulated rescue scenarios.
The first was an uninjured patient who just needed help getting to the top of the dune, overlooking Lake Michigan. The second simulation was a response to a patient with a broken leg. And the third involved the same patient at the bottom of one of the overlooks along Pierce Stocking Scenic Drive.
