Twenty new trees will be planted at Veronica Valley County Park on Friday, May 16.
ReLeaf Michigan, a statewide non-profit tree planting organization, the DTE Foundation, in collaboration with Leelanau County and the Leelanau Conservation District will plant the trees.
Volunteers are needed to help. These trees are a part of an effort to turn an old golf course into a natural space and increase species and age diversity with native trees.
Volunteers are asked to wear closed-toe shoes and comfortable clothing and bring a shovel, hard rank and gloves if they have them. The group will meet at 8:45 a.m. at 4243 S. Lake Leelanau Dr.
The even occurs rain or shine. No planting experience is necessary.
This event is free. However RSVPs are appreciated. RSVP at www.releafmichigan.org/RSVP.
