Title: Origin and Echo

To the editor:

I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to the Northport Arts Association for opening their space to Origin and Echo, and for embracing the spirit of collaboration that brought this show to life. This exhibit wasn’t just about art—it was about connection, growth, and the incredible power of community.

A special thank you to Elizabeth Schwind and Heidi Hammond in the Northport Public School office for helping collect student work and supporting the behind-the-scenes logistics that are so often invisible but absolutely essential. Thank you also to Meg Jean from Lift, who stepped in without hesitation to help transport the work on Monday. Your willingness to jump in made all the difference.

To the team who physically brought this show together — Chris Woomer, Lisa Westling, Kay Pentezien, Brigitte Weller, Linda Bayer, and Jayne Robinson — your careful hands and kind hearts created a space where student voices could be seen, heard, and celebrated. The arrangement and care you gave to this work allowed conversations to emerge between artists, students, and visitors. Your efforts created more than just a show—you built a shared moment of beauty and meaning.

I also want to thank Neil Wetherbee and the Northport Public School Board for nurturing an environment that encourages not only student growth, but also the continued professional growth of its educators. Your support enables projects like this to take root and flourish.

To the students and their families— thank you for your trust and enthusiasm. The pride and love you showed for this exhibit was overwhelming in the best way. Your presence reminded us all why we do this work. You brought the energy and authenticity that made this show sing.

Finally, to the broader Northport community: thank you for showing up with your hearts open. Whether you walked through the gallery doors or simply offered words of encouragement, your support reflects the kind of community we are lucky to be part of. Origin and Echo was not created in isolation—it was made possible by the village that is Northport.

With deep appreciation, Jen Evans Art Teacher, Northport Public School
