Is it possible to lose your home?
The Leelanau County schools are once again asking for more of your finite money resources. Didn’t you just approve a millage for them? It might be prudent for us taxpayers to ask for an audit to see how much of this money is not going to support the dwindling number of students in our county.
The Leelanau Connection calls May the “older Americans month.” Have you ever stopped and considered the burden these millage property taxes are having on our older retired fixed income senior citizens? These taxes are also contributing to the high cost of home ownership in our county. Does one, “do it for the children” and possibly risk eventually losing your home due to the uncontrollable property tax burden. Voting yes for more millages might just put your neighbor or friend into tax default.
