Glen Lake baseball and softball teams hosted the John Schlosser Memorial Tournament Saturday.

This tournament is done in respect and remembrance of Coach John Schlosser, who started the Glen Lake baseball tradition and built the Lakers field. He was the head coach here from 1972-1986, with a record of 283119, three NWC Championships, five District Championships, four Regional Championships, and four Final Fours. John was also the 1984 State Coach of the Year and was inducted into the MHSBCA Hall of Fame in 1990.

Game 1 STATS: TC St. Francis 4, Glen Lake 0: TCSF — Tyler Endres WP, 6 IP, 12 K, 4 H, 0 ER; Matthew Kane 2-3, HR, 2B, 2 R, RBI; Braxton Lesinski 1-3, RBI, R; Glen Lake — Isaac Hlavka 6 IP, 4 R, 3 ER, 6 H, 8 K, 3 BB.

Glen Lake senior catcher Peter Gelsinger and infielder Tristin Boze had a highlight-reel when they caught a TCSF runner stealing second base.

“I trust that as long as I can get the throw down in time, Tristin will catch it and lay a perfect tag down even on bad throws,” Gelsinger said and Boze added. “I’m happy to play shortstop and receive throw downs from Peter Gelsinger behind the plate. He throws dimes all the time, and I appreciate that.”

Game 2 results: Grand Rapids West Catholic 5, Glen Lake 4: Glen Lake (18-6) — Tanner Crick 5.1 IP, 3 R, 2 ER, 6 H, 7 K, 3 BB.

No matter the result, for senior Braden Roush, it’s all about the team.

“We will all hang out after practice and go get ice cream as well as on the weekends, so that just adds to the team chemistry, so everybody’s always on the same page, and it feels like a brotherhood,” he said.
