Author visits Leelanau Reads

Book lovers will congregate at the Glen Lake Schools auditorium this Saturday at 7 p.m., to hear author Nita Prose speak at the Leelanau Reads event.

This event is put on annually by Leelanau County’s four public libraries and typically draws audience numbers in the hundreds.

Nita Prose released her debut novel, “The Maid”, in 2022 and quickly saw it rise to the top of the New York Times Best Seller charts and win multiple awards. She then released two sequels and a novella in the series; the third installment, “The Maid’s Secret”, was just released in April of this year.

“The Maid” follows a socially awkward maid named Molly Grey as she becomes the prime suspect in a murder that took place in the hotel where she works. This delightfully quirky story is often described as a “Clue-like locked door mystery” that explores why we overlook or underappreciate certain people, what it means for someone to feel truly seen, and how far we’d go for the ones we love.

During the author event, Prose will discuss the first book in the series and will be interviewed by guest host Sarah Bearup-Neal of the Glen Arbor Arts Center. This event is free and open to all with no registration required to attend. The doors open at 6 p.m., seats will be first come, first serve, the discussion will start at 7 and go until 9.

Copies of “The Maid” are available at your local Leelanau library or bookstore, and copies will be available to purchase at the event courtesy of Glen Arbor’s Cottage Book Shop.

More information can be found online or by contacting your local library.
