Board OKs 2% request for parks

Parks and recreation were part of the county Board of Commissioners’ meeting last week.

Commissioners voted to approve a 2% request from their own Parks and Recreation Commission for $18,000 to upgrade the disc golf course at Myles Kimmerly Park.

Established in 2003, the course has become one of the most popular courses in northern Michigan. In 2023 the UDisc (scorekeeping app), recorded over 2,100 rounds played on the course, with an estimated 30% of players using the app. The true number of rounds is probably closer to 10,000.
