Canada trek aims to raise funds for those living with Type 1 diabetes

Lake Leelanau resident and Village Cheese Shanty employee André Massé is heading out on a next-level adventure in Canada this July to raise awareness and funds for a cause close to his heart.

This year, Massé is part of the Connected in Motion (CIM) Adventure Team, which is a group consisting of inspiring individuals from the Type 1 diabetes community “who push boundaries, achieve personal milestones, and support CIM’s mission to empower others to live life without limits.” The Canadian non-profit charity organization provides outdoor adventure and sport based experiential diabetes education for youth and adults with type 1 diabetes. Massé, 22, was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes when he was 11, and has been living with the disease for half his life.
