Leland Township board voted 3-1 on Monday to approve the appointment of Greg Kuntz as trustee to fill the vacancy following the resignation of Marianne Kirch approved at last month’s special meeting. The partial term approved expires in December 2026.
Three were considered for the trustee vacancy, including two former trustee candidates that ran in last year’s election, Kathy Dawkins and Brian Fenlon. Both Dawkins and Fenlon currently serve in different township roles including Fenlon who is on the Leland Township sewer commission and Dawkins who serves on the zoning board of appeals.
Clint Mitchell, Leland Township supervisor, said the three candidates met individually both in-person and via phone with board members beforehand to discuss filling the trustee role. While Mitchell and other board members agreed that all candidates had qualities suitable for the job, the majority ultimately leaned towards the nomination of Kuntz and what he could bring to the township.
