Peninsula Perennial Nursery in Northport has new owners this season — John Schneider, his wife, Sandy, and son, Cameron. The new family in town has been busy getting to know the community since closing on the business/property on June 2.

The couple is retired and new to the industry, but Schneider previously worked as an executive at Ford Motor Company for 35 years, while Sandy worked in elementary education early in her career. Cameron graduated last year from Northern Michigan University (NMU) in Marquette, where he lived for the last four years and studied indoor agriculture.

Both Schneider and Sandy are relocating to Northport from South Lyon, with Schneider adding that they have all loved visiting Leelanau County for vacation for some time now. When they recently came across the Peninsula Perennials business for sale, the family jumped at the opportunity while keeping in mind that Cameron, with his knowledge in agriculture, would help tremendously in sustaining and continuing the business.
