A kids day will be held at North Park at the Suttons Bay Farmers Market on Saturday, June 21 from 10 a.m. to noon with a day full of activities expected including: face painting, building a bouquet, seed planting, riding the smoothie bike, a coloring corner and scavenge hunt. The event is free for all kids that attend.
Leelanau Farmers Markets Coordinator Linda Szarkowski said the kids day was organized to get more youth involved with learning about where their food comes from before it gets to the grocery store and the local farmers that make it possible. The weather on Saturday may alter plans, so people interested in going are encouraged to follow Leelanau Farmers Market via social media platforms like Facebook and Instagram for updates.
Starting the following Saturday, June 28, the Suttons Bay Farmers Market will move its location to the Suttons Bay Public School parking lot for four weeks. The market and vendors will temporarily be located at the school to avoid traffic congestion near North Park during peak boating season. After the four weeks, Szarkowski said the market should be coming back to the North Park location.
