Several members of the Fox Island Lighthouse Association took 10 volunteers on the Manitou Transit landing craft dubbed “The Bear” to open the remote South Fox island light station 21 miles offshore for three days.
DNR representation was present and even three people from South Manitou Island came along for the ride.
The group took care of a larger tree that had fallen around the summer kitchen. Volunteers got to work on clearing the grounds and cutting up the branches.
