To the editor:
While the VFW Hall in Lake Leelanau may have a few years behind her, a group of veterans and community members are fast at work to raise money to bring her back to life. The hall has been a center for community events from wedding receptions to Toys for Tots deliveries for decades. Now it’s in need of a major renovation.
Perhaps the biggest drawback to its continuance as a county treasure is access. Presently visitors attending events have to walk down or up stairs to enter. As our veterans (and all of us) grow older, this becomes a bigger drawback.
