Volunteers needed for community events

Volunteers needed for community events
The opening reception at the Omena Historical Society on June 27 highlighted the two new exhibits: “Deer Camp” and “Places in Time.” The museum is open to the public on Fridays and Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Photo courtesy of Mark Smith

We are very fortunate in and around Omena to have so many wonderful organizations that bring us art, music, history and more fun and interesting things to do. But these “things” don’t just happen. It takes dedicated boards and volunteers. While volunteering is critical to these organizations, it can also be a lot of fun, meeting new people, catching up with others and learning new things.

There are lots of needs out there right now for volunteers. The Northport Arts Association (NAA) is looking for volunteers for the Gene Rantz Plein Air Paint Out and Wet Paint Sale on July 18 and 19. They need help with artists check-in, food prep, bartending and ticket sales at the door.

The Northport Performing Arts Center (NPAC) needs help with creation of some really fun visual elements for their production of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, including the set and scenery. Two of the really fun ones are “The Mixing Cup” and “Chocolate Eden.”
