The nonprofit ShareCare of Leelanau held its 2nd annual Adult Spelling Bee Fundraiser Saturday at the VFW Hall in Lake Leelanau. A total of six teams, or 18 people, participated in the friendly competition, with the winning team consisting of three women including Phoebe and Hazel Danzinger, and Ellen Schwaiger. ShareCare Executive Director Dawn Bousamra said the fundraiser, sponsored by Munson Healthcare, surpassed last year’s contribution total as of Monday. All proceeds benefit ShareCare to help ensure seniors served through the organization receive the support they need to maintain their independence and quality of life.
