After a short hiatus, prep basketball action is heating up again on the peninsula for 2024.
January begins with an intriguing boys basketball match-up between the cousins of Leland and St. Mary tonight at 7. The Comets will be looking to avenge a 43-32 Eagle win in December.
St. Mary girls (7-1) will be looking to continue its momentum into 2024 as the Eagles battle Kalkaska on Friday at 7.
Glen Lake (4-2) and Leland (3-1) girls basketball return to the court in a Northwest Conference battle Tuesday at 7 p.m. St. Mary girls will also travel to Grand Traverse Academy on the same day, and Suttons Bay (3-1) will look to compete with a tough Buckley squad.
Glen Lake (4-2), Suttons Bay (3-2) and Leland (3-3) boys basketball return for the first home games of 2024 on Friday. The Lakers battle Frankfort for a prime time game against a lethal Panther squad. Leland welcomes Buckley and Suttons Bay will look to take down the Stags of Kingsley.
The week wraps up with Glen Lake boys traveling to Leland on Wednesday. The Glen Lake ski team is hoping to start its season at Crystal Mountain on Wednesday if snow and cold temperatures reach the area.
