Traffic, construction impacts business

With tourism picking up for the summer, local businesses are being affected differently based on the construction traffic.

“I’m optimistic about how the business is picking up,” said Tony West, owner of Locals Lake Leelanau. “This year was a unique weather year, we finally had a real winter. It really hasn’t warmed up until last weekend.”

Locals opened their doors in early May of this year. Being such a new restaurant in the area has its issues as well.
