G-A Township readies for the 4th

Final preparations for the Fourth of July parade, the speed limit in town, and updates from the Fire Department, including a date for the annual pancake breakfast, were the main topics of discussion at Glen Arbor Township’s June meeting.

The classic “Anything-Goes” Fourth of July parade will take place this year with the theme “Celebrate America.” Township Clerk Pam Laureto submitted the final road closure and permit requests to the Michigan Department of Transportation earlier this month.

Laureto said that the Road Commission will be providing four barricades and a large truck on M-22 at the intersection of Western Ave and S. Ray St. to help control traffic. Since the Sheriff’s Department will not be able to have as many officers on site for the event, at least one volunteer will be at each of the barricades to direct traffic.
