It stands as a symbol of days gone by.
A monument to a time when the shared experience of war brought people together to establish the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7731 of Lake Leelanau, The Little Finger Post.
Nearly 80 years have passed since the VFW Post was mustered on June 8, 1946. The hall has been the center of activity for Leelanau County since the early 1950s when GIs, who returned from World War II, volunteered their labor and scraped up enough materials to build a place for the community to gather. After hours and on weekends members worked laying blocks and hammering nails.
