Suttons Bay man hospitalized after car-bicycle collision

An after-dark car/bicycle accident Wednesday night has left a Suttons Bay man hospitalized with serious injuries.

According to the county Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a 911 call at 10:28 p.m., in reference to a car/bike accident on M-22, just north of McCallister Road in Suttons Bay Township.

Deputies on the scene determined that a northbound vehicle, driven by a 36-year-old Suttons Bay woman, had struck a southbound bicyclist, who was riding in the roadway.

The bicyclist, a 37-year-old man from Suttons Bay, was transported to  Munson Medical Center with serious injuries.

Agencies assisting the Sheriff’s Office included Suttons Bay/Bingham Fire Department;  Leland Township Fire & Rescue; Michigan State Police; Michigan Department of Natural Resources and thee Grand Traverse Band Police Department.

The accident remains under investigation.
