Raff's camp attracted sport trollers

Great Lakes sport trolling is an extremely popular pastime for many thousands of sport fishermen as well as being a multi-million dollar industry, but it wasn’t always such.

Early in the 20th century, it consisted of one man, one boat, and a handful of onlookers who wondered what it would be like to catch a fish from the clear, cold depths of Grand Traverse Bay.
