‘Remain in Touch’ receives grant

A local non-profit that helps bridge the gap between incarcerated parent and their children has been awarded $10,000 from 100+ Women Who Care Grand Traverse and Leelanau.

Remain in Touch, founded by Elmwood Township resident Connie Eisenhart, serves families of incarcerated persons with children. The non-profit allows parents to select free books and record themselves reading them aloud. These personalized recordings, along with the books, are then sent directly to their children, fostering a sense of presence and connection despite physical separation.

Remain in Touch provides a program for teens aged 13 to 18, allowing incarcerated parents to choose free books, record personal introductions, and even borrow the same books to read concurrently with their teenagers.
