With thanks

To the editor:

Last Wednesday, I was in a bicycle accident on the trail between Beulah and Frankfort. It was pretty bad. Some other bikers saw it and rushed to my aid – a local couple and a couple from Grand Rapids and perhaps more. I was surrounded by people who were concerned, compassionate and were not going to leave until they were sure that emergency services and an ambulance were on sight and in control. While waiting, 4 people took corners of a blanket and held it over me so that I would be out of the sun.

This is an American story. This episode illustrates who we really are in the midst of these rather difficult times. Looking back on it, I am so grateful.
