‘Peak’ time for flowers

Tucked into the quiet beauty of Leelanau County, Omena Cut Flowers is having a busy summer, especially this July, which owner Carolyn Faught calls the “peak month” of the season.

“This is my 29th summer,” she said, smiling.

Together with her friend Marion, a now-retired probate judge in Leelanau County, Carolyn started the flower farm. Together, the two planted the first six beds before Marion went back to practicing law. From early-summer peonies to fall’s hallmark dahlias, Carolyn continues to grow over 50 different kinds on the farm with the same love and care today.
