Leland Township residents will head to the polls on August 5 to vote on two fire and rescue department millages in its special election.
The first ballot proposal is to renew and increase the expired township emergency medical service and firefighting operation millage. The second proposal is to renew the expired millage for funding and equipment and training for the township fire and rescue department.
The fire and rescue department’s millage for funding of township emergency medical service and firefighting operations would be renewed and increased in an additional amount of up to 0.8273 mills ($0.8271 per $1,000 of taxable value) for a total new millage of up to 2.9 mills ($2.90 per $1,000 of taxable value) and be levied for three years, beginning 2025 through 2027, on all taxable property within Leland Township. It would raise an estimated $2,010,104 in the first year the millage is levied.
