Friends of Sleeping Bear Dunes has been serving the Lakeshore and National Park for over 30 years through the help of their volunteers.
Volunteers help on track chair hikes or wheelchair bike rides, picking up litter on beaches, rivers, and highways, preventative search and rescue in high-risk areas to reduce the need for actual operations, a Heritage Trail crew, and other projects in the area.
Kerry Kelly, chairman emeritus, believes the group has left a big impact on the area.
