It’s just a little over a week until the annual Northport Dog Parade on Saturday, August 9. Whether you and your dog are in the parade, or you are there to watch, it’s lots of fun. Dogs – and their humans – dress in creative costumes that bring lots of laughs and cheers from the crowds that line the streets of Northport. This year’s theme is “Bone Appetit”. The parade begins at noon. Participants need to be there earlier, and it’s a good idea for others to get there early, as well.
The beginning of August always feels like the winding down of summer to me. I guess it’s a carry-over from my school days. The good news is that there’s no winding down of things to do or friends and family visiting.
This Friday and Saturday are the last two days of the Plein Air Exhibit at the Northport Arts Association. Friday night, a local favorite, the Broom Closet Boys, will be at Music in the Park.
