The Northport Dog Parade is this Saturday! There’s a new location for the Parade Line-Up this year. It will be at the Marina Park Pavilion. The parade starts at noon. Dogs and their companions need to be lined up no later than 11:30 am. In-person registration begins at 9:30 am. You can pre-register at Pennington Collection and Dog Ears Books. Registration is $5 in advance and $10 in-person on Saturday. Pre-registration ends tomorrow, Friday. If you preregister, you still need to check in at the registration table.
The event was founded by David Chrobak 28 years ago, and has continued to grow ever since. The theme for this year’s parade is Bone Appetit. It is always a fun and funny event, with well over 100 dogs, and their owners, in clever costumes. Last year, there were over 200 dogs.
After the parade, you can enjoy lunch or some shopping in downtown Northport and then join the Northport Area Heritage Association’s (NAHA) Historic Northport Walking Tour at 2 p.m. for a guided tour of the Village. Call Ellie at 202815-2732 to reserve space or for more information about private tours.
