New book highlights summer diaries of Rebecca L. Richmond from 1907-1920
A new book, “Perfect Omena Day!” by historian and author M. Christine Byron offers people a look into Leelanau County’s past through selections from the 1907-1920 summer diaries of Rebecca L. Richmond.
Richmond’s diary entries present a first-hand account of cottage life in Leelanau County in the early 1900s as she spent summers in Omena. They also coincide with the golden age of postcards, which will be used to illustrate her various entries, along with photos, maps, and other ephemera.
