An observation

To the editor:

Uncharacteristic and controversial actions in Leelanau County were notices and observed publicly during the local 2024 election cycle. A former Republican who lost a reelection big in 2022, changed political parties after losing favor with a growing conservative movement that he would have to regain to win.

Also early on in 2024, after losing his Leelanau GOP Vice Chair in 2022, the former chair surprisingly came out to primary a well-known and established republican incumbent and nemesis to the democrats on the county BOC. That primary proved to be surprisingly successful for the replaced former LGOP vice chair with a win over an experienced incumbent.
