To the editor:
The animosity toward County Administrator Dyer in recent letters to the editor is puzzling. My reading of this paper’s reporting indicates he has been performing his duties effectively and appropriately. He is working to address issues including housing, financial planning, and organizational efficiency. His effort to serve on the Electric Coop board would normally be considered a plus in a leader. Service to the community outside of one’s job is usually seen as selflessness, not a conflict of interest.
In light of this, I want to commend our commissioners, and Mr. Yoder’s leadership, in addressing the complaints head on with the early evaluation of Mr. Dyer’s performance. The accounts in the Enterprise and the Ticker report the exchange was civil and constructive. I also appreciate the transparency in releasing a transcript of the closed session showing a frank exchange. Both parties understand that a working relationship takes time and reasoned communication to develop.
