Brd. balks at department name change

A proposal to change the name of the county’s facilities and maintenance department failed to get support from commissioners this week.

The board, in a reversal of its committee recommendation from its Aug. 12 executive committee meeting to change the name of the department to “facilities and engineering.”

Facilities director Patrick Roach came before the executive committee and requested the name change last week, providing three basic rationales for the action.
