Once again, Leelanau Township Community Foundation has delivered good news to the Omena community. The Omena Historical Society has been awarded a Foundation Grant of $12,000 toward the expenses associated with installation of a new roof for the Putnam-Cloud Tower House Museum. The Museum building is in dire need of a new roof before winter.
Proceeds from last year's Mayor's Race community fundraiser paid for a new furnace earlier in the year and gave the Society a start towards roof replacement, but significant additional funds needed to be raised to cover the costs. OHS Director Steve Stanton reached out to the LTCF for assistance, and the Foundation generously met the need. Stanton passed away last week.
