County plan identifies capital projects

Projects totaling just over $1.8 million were included for 2026 in the county’s 5-year Capital Improvement Plan adopted this month by the County Board of Commissioners.

The board voted unanimously to adopt the plan that lists proposed projects through 2031. The plan was developed by the office of Planning and Community Development and the County Planning Commission and was part of budget discussion this week.

The goal of the plan is to identify and budget for projects in coming fiscal years. Ten projects recommended as “urgent” are proposed for the 2026 budget year. However, the decision about what projects will be pursued and the financial considerations will likely be included in the county budget which is due to be finalized in October.
