To the editor:

I was intrigued by Steven Bradley’s July 31, 2025 letter, “Shifting the burden to the working class,” and was prompted to read his self-published book, “Subverting The Republic,” which I obtained through the Leelanau Township Library.

Mr. Bradley’s book explores the concept of “conditional allegiance,” where he argues that the federal government is only legitimate when it operates with the consent of the governed.
