As Glen Lake runners Abraham Feeney and Spencer McNitt crossed the finish line together during a Northwest Conference Jamboree in Buckley, they held their hands up, proud of another dominant race.
The celebration was halted by a referee enforcing an obscure rule that no runner shall impede or assist another runner during a race.
“Certainly a tough moment for our boys’ team, but we will be stronger for it. We are not going to let it diminish the six lifetime PRs and three season bests that came out of the race. Our team knows who the real winner was and will get two more opportunities to prove it down the stretch,” Glen Lake coach George Drown said.
